FAQ
Common questions about booking, mechanics, pricing, and parts.
What is Callit and how does it work?
Callit is a marketplace that connects you with independent, licensed mechanics and apprentices in your area, matching you with a qualified professional the same way modern on-demand platforms connect people to independent service providers. You book the work you need, and your mechanic comes to you.
Are the mechanics on Callit qualified and insured?
Yes. Every mechanic and apprentice on the platform works independently with their own tools, licensing, and insurance. We verify credentials before anyone is able to take jobs through Callit.
How does booking work, and how fast can a mechanic get to me?
All services on Callit are booked in advance through the app or website. Once your request is confirmed, your mechanic will arrive within 2 hours to perform the repair — a window we've set to account for GTA traffic and keep every appointment reliable. As our network of mechanics grows, we expect to shorten this to 1 hour and introduce faster, on-demand service for quick jobs like tire changes and battery replacement.
How does pricing work — will I get surprised by extra costs?
No surprises. Callit calculates your price upfront before the work begins, based on the service and parts you choose, so you know the cost before you commit.
What kind of parts do you use?
You can choose OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts or "Callit trusted parts" — quality-vetted alternatives — depending on your budget and preference. The choice, and its effect on price, is shown before you confirm.
Where does the service actually happen?
Your mechanic comes to you — at your home, workplace, or wherever your vehicle is parked — so you don't need to visit a shop.
Will I have a record of the work done on my car?
Yes. Every repair or service performed through Callit is automatically logged to your vehicle's service history, so you always have a complete, accessible record. Work is also reported to CARFAX, so it's reflected in your vehicle's official history.
Is there a warranty on parts and repairs?
Yes. Every part replaced through Callit is covered by a 6-month warranty. If anything goes wrong with that part during those 6 months, it will be replaced at no additional cost to you.
Does Callit offer services for businesses or vehicle fleets?
Yes. Fleet customers can add all of their vehicles to their account and submit service requests for as many as they need, with business pricing that reflects the scale of a fleet. Like our other repair services, fleet work is always scheduled in advance.
What if I have a breakdown and need help right now?
Emergency roadside service is our top priority and the one exception to booking ahead — it's handled immediately, so if you're stranded, help is on the way right away rather than scheduled for later.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Yes, you can cancel anytime. If you're cancelling because your mechanic is running late past the scheduled window, there's no fee. Cancelling for other reasons may incur a fee.
What payment methods does Callit accept?
We accept credit and debit cards. For major repairs, we also offer installment payment options through Klarna and Affirm, so bigger jobs are easier to fit into your budget.
Do I need to be there while the work is being done?
Not at all. You're welcome to stay and watch, but you don't have to be present. Either way, your mechanic uploads photos of the parts used during the job, so you can always check your dashboard afterward to confirm exactly what was installed on your car.
Does Callit service my car's make and model?
Just enter your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on our website, and if it's recognized, we'll show you the services available for your vehicle. Please note that certain exotic and high-performance luxury vehicles are not currently supported.
Why do you ask for my license plate when booking?
Your license plate helps your mechanic find and identify your exact vehicle, especially in busy or crowded parking lots with many similar cars. This way, service can begin even if you're not there in person when the mechanic arrives.
